About Simone Schehtman

As Founding Director of Teamworks Karting since 1999, Simone has built a leading hospitality and leisure group that posted as the first IPO in its sector. In 2020, she founded CoreSkill, delivering online sports education for disadvantaged young people. In 2022, she founded Birmingham for Ukraine (birminghamforukraine.org) to help Ukrainian nationals arriving in Birmingham under the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, acting as Lead Pairer to mobilise community and local authority responses to the crisis.

As a volunteer and activist, Simone continues to lead Birmingham for Ukraine, advocating for appropriate support in light of continued war in Ukraine and creating opportunities for Ukrainian adult and child guests to fulfil their professional and creative potential.

She is also working with partners across local authority, private and third sectors to enable Teamworks Karting spaces to support young disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

Simone was Chair of the Board of Governors of King David School, Birmingham between 2019-2024 Vice Chair for 7 previous years and Governor for 13.

As a fundraiser, she has run multiple marathons for The Lullaby Trust, supporting bereaved parents.

Simone gives keynote media commentary on the Bank of England’s economic outlook & Interest Rate decisions from an SME perspective in the Hospitality & Leisure sector and regularly features as keynote speaker at corporate events, in the media and with eminent leaders including former Bank of England Governor Sir Mervyn King, former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and global entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson.

Simone is an experienced advocate and has become increasingly involved as leading national spokesperson in media coverage relating to Homes for Ukraine scheme..
